Measuring cognitive style, which is the tendency to think in particular ways
Years of practice as psychologists made the authors aware of the helpfulness of understanding differences in ways thinking. Later in our vocations we were privileged to move into academic positions training specialist psychologists. With this came the opportunity and university resources for conducting rigorous research.
We built a model using methodologies developed in the fields of intelligence and personality. Quantitative research joined qualitative methodologies, reflecting our own various distinct ways of thinking has resulted in a robust instrument: The Ways of Thinking (WOT)
This free version of the instrument is designed to allow non professionals gain some understanding of their preferred natural way of thinking. Your results are confidential.
On this website you will find further basic information regarding the psychometric development of the WOT, including emerging research findings.
Researchers and clinicians are able to register to access the WOT, including the full version and technical manual at no cost.
Feel free to get in touch if you have questions about the WOT
