More than 25 years of research, and a number of researchers have contributed to the development of the Ways of Thinking indicator. Here are the key members of our team.
John Roodenburg PhD is the original author of the WOT. A former teacher and psychologist with a passion for psychometrics and individual differences, he spent two decades as an academic at Monash University. There he lead the postgraduate Educational and Developmental Psychology programs and was Director of the Krongold Clinic. Now enjoying time for gardening and coffee roasting, he currently continues supervision and research as an adjunct at Monash.
He is a Fellow of the Australian Psychological Society, Fellow of the College of Educational and Developmental Psychology and Fellow of the College of Counselling Psychology. He is a past National Chair of the College of Educational and Developmental Psychologists.
Esther Roodenburg PhD extended John's original work by applying her qualitative orientation to further validating and understanding the meaning of the constructs and structure that has emerged for ways of thinking. Starting off as a secondary teacher she worked in private practice for 30 years as psychologist. Then, in the later part of her career she brought the experiences of her work to teaching, researching and supervising counselling and clinical psychology at Monash University.
Shane Costello PhD is the lead researcher for the latest iteration of the WOT. Shane is an Educational and Developmental Psychologist and Senior Lecturer in the School of Educational Psychology and Counselling at Monash University. Shane is a keen psychometrician with interests in individual differences, psychological assessment, and neurodevelopmental disorders.
